War with Satan (Iblees/Shaytaan) 5. Pride and Arrogance

And I (Allah) created not the jinn and mankind except that they should worship Me (Alone).
(سورة الذاريات, Adh-Dhaariyat, Chapter #51, Verse #56)

(Allah) said: "O iblis (Satan)! What is your reason for not being among the prostrators?"
(سورة الحجر, Al-Hijr, Chapter #15, Verse #32)

(Allah) said: "O Iblis (Satan)! What prevents you from prostrating yourself to one whom I have created with Both My Hands . Are you too proud (to fall prostrate to Adam) or are you one of the high exalted?" (سورة ص, Saad, Chapter #38, Verse #75)

[iblis (Satan)] said: "I am better than he. You created me from fire, and You created him from clay."
(سورة ص, Saad, Chapter #38, Verse #76)

And (remember) when We said to the angels: "prostrate yourselves unto Adam." They prostrated themselves except Iblis (Satan). He said: "Shall I prostrate myself to one whom You created from clay?" (سورة الإسراء, Al-Israa, Chapter #17, Verse #61)

[Iblis (Satan)] said: "I am not the one to prostrate myself to a human being, whom You created from dried (sounding) clay of altered mud." (سورة الحجر, Al-Hijr, Chapter #15, Verse #33)

(Allah) said: "What prevented you (O iblis) that you did not prostrate yourself, when I commanded you?" iblis said: "I am better than him (Adam), You created me from fire, and him You created from clay." (سورة الأعراف, Al-A'raaf, Chapter #7, Verse #12)

And (remember) when We said to the angels: "prostrate yourselves unto Adam." So they prostrated themselves except Iblis (Satan). He was one of the jinn; he disobeyed the Command of his Lord. Will you then take him (Iblis) and his offspring as protectors and helpers rather than Me while they are enemies to you? What an evil is the exchange for the Zalimun (polytheists, and wrong-doers).
