Will Samsung release a bendable smartphone by the end of June 2017?
According to The Wall Street Journal, Samsung said in 2013 at its Analyst Day that the company was putting resources into developing flexible and foldable phones, but more than two years on, no such phone has been released. That could be about to change. In early 2016, speculation was mounting that Samsung could release a fully bendable or foldable smartphone in 2016. The foldable phone project is being called Project Valley internally according to Sam Mobile, a blog covering Samsung news which has a decent track record on unannounced products. It originally predicted that the phone might be released in January, but has since revised that prediction to some time in 2016.
Significance
The development of a mass-produced bendable or foldable phone would be a huge technological advancement in the smartphone market. It could allow phones to have large displays, and still conveniently fit in a pocket.
