SAM Saturday - squirrels
I missed #SAM-Saturday and I know I am really late. My apologies to @bluemoon. I hope you are feeling a bit better after the terrible week and the awful accident you had. Bluemoon-When Something goes Wrong
My daughter stops over every morning on her way home from work to feed her squirrel friends. I know how much she loves feeding peanuts to the squirrels, but I strongly suspect that she is checking in on me and while she is here she does any number of the things I might need help with. Then she goes on about her very busy day.
She makes a point of stopping each week at the local Farm Supply store and buying bags of peanuts for her friends. I have watched the squirrels begin to come out of the woods when they hear her car pull in my driveway. Sometimes there have been as many as 10 squirrels outside waiting for her when she goes out on the deck.
She recognizes and has names for many of the regulars and knows which tree a few of them live in. They come right to her and she hands them down their peanut snacks
Squirrels are fun, but I know she is counting the days until spring time when her chipmunk friends reappear!

Ha! you got some GREAT pictures on this post for sure Melinda! I love this one and those close ups of those squirrels or squirrel is amazing! Those guys are lucky to be in your yard!
I wanted to get some of her feeding them for you, but they were too wary of me being out there with a camera and wouldn't come up to her like they usually do while I was there. Two different squirrels... The one in the tree is a female named Bill, and the one on the deck railing is a male named Jake. Bill was from a late season batch of 3 siblings that didn't leave the nest until September, so she is still pretty young
Haha! I wonder how many people name the squirrels in there yard? Probably more than I think! But anyway, that is really really fun and cool and nice of you guys to keep them well fed. Does your daughter work third shift?
No, she is a personal assistant to an elderly gentleman who lives near me and is severely handicapped. She is paid to go to his home every morning and be there while the nurse comes and she assists him in getting out of bed and into his wheelchair and she does all the chores around the house that he needs done and prepares his lunch before she comes to my house. She often is paid to spend the night at his house when his wife is going to be away.
oh ok, I got it. Well she's a saint! lol. There's no doubt about that, I think she is wonderful!(takes after her mom).
Awww! That's sweet of you to say. She adores the man that she works for, although she doesn't particularly care for the wife. I don't know what they would do without her, and they must realize that because they pay her very well!
oh I'm so glad that they know that and that they pay her well. And then she works on other things all day? Is that job enough to be her full time job? I mean I know it's full time but it's more of a full time part time job because of the hours right? I don't know when she gets there in the morning though.
She only works 2 hours 7 days a week but they pay her $50 an hour and $150 a night if she has to sleep there. She does okay. the rest of the time she is taking classes for a psychology degree and she is doing a Scandinavian languages minor. Plus she has three teenagers in the house. Her son and two step daughters. She keeps very busy. OK... Falling asleep here! See you tomorrow!
Thank you! ❤️
My neighbors all feed them and then they come over and tip my birdfeeder because I don't. :)
Oh, well. They mean well and you really captured some great shots for the post! I am still away, but, wanted to drop in so people don't forget me. :) Three weeks away is a lifetime online.
I just read your thing on Dan, @bluemoom now, I need to go check him out! I had no idea.
Great shots, Melinda and yes! Your daughter is a modern day angel. I am pretty sure she learned it from how she was raised.
!tip
Thanks luv. You are right 3 "weeks is an eternity and I'm sure every single one of us would love to trade places with you! Enjoy the rest of your time and we'll see when you get back home with lots of wonderful pictures!
Oh gosh! It's not an eternity for me oh, I meant it in three weeks time people will forget me! LOL
I knew what you meant... It is an eternity. Things change so quickly here. I meant that even though we all love being online, we would be happy to leave it all behind to be where you are!
I get you. It is such a sweet dream to be here. Everyone back home says there will be snow tomorrow.
Glad I am here. I am done with winter and we didn't even have but an inch or three all season... and they said it will be 60 on Thursday!
they are adorable
They are.... When they are not being naughty.
So cute! You should try to get pictures of your daughter feeding them. That would be adorable. I hope the chipmunks return soon!
They are wary when I go out there, too. Once it warms up and I can be out there long enough for them to forget that I am there, I'll see what I can do!

Thanks!
So nice to see your daughter taking care of the squirrels. 😀
She is my animal lover and all the critters love and trust her. It is fun to watch her interact with them.
You have a kind and filial daughter.
Nice clear pictures. In the first picture, the squirrel looked as if it is posing for the camera. :-)
Thanks! I think the squirrel was wondering what I was doing out there with a camera when it was supposed to be peanut eating time. I was disrupting their routine.
Quite possibly - that. :-)
Noooo! If you feed them, they'll keep coming! Little bird-food-thieving furballs!
We do think alike! But I really appriate all she does for me, so I have to bite my tongue!
