The education problem can definitely be seen as one of the most important issues in China. And under the category of education, there are so many things that we can talk about, like the educational inequality, the traditional culture education and so on. Now I will focus on the problem of education inequality between developed cities and less developed areas.
During the past years, China has made many progresses on education pilot reform and attached more importance on the promotion of educational equality. For example, government has been increasing investment on educational funds, which are used to improve educational facilities in rural areas and strengthen compulsory education in rural areas of central and western China. And also, university students are encouraged to volunteer to teach in mountainous areas and bonus may even be given to those students. The government has spent much thought in promoting the education level in less developed area, especially the remote mountainous areas, and the result can also be seen. But we have to admit that there is still a long way to go. Although the educational level has been promoted, the huge gap still exists.
In my opinion, apart from the system, the difficulty in solving the problem of educational inequality lies in the inequality of teachers. The inequality on teacher resources is due to the disparity between underdeveloped areas and developed cities. Less developed areas are not rich in resources and conditions. In terms of material conditions, underdeveloped areas are indeed far away from developed areas, not to mention that some less developed areas are not simply less developed.
So, the main thing is to find the point that can attract excellent teachers. For example, if university students come to less developed areas to volunteer to teach, we can give them some bonus points. And if graduate students can work here for 3years or more, we can provide house freely. And we can also encourage those college students who came from here to come back to their hometown to teach, targeting on those who want to live near their parents, which could also help to develop these areas.
