SLC-S21W3: Mastering Product Hunting and Promotion
Find a trending product
It is kind of hard to find a trending product with a general outline, without any seasonal or problem solving USP, means which is sold all the time. So i thought to find something related to seasonal changes, the winter season is almost here so the product i have chosen for the task is Electric Frother
To find the searches and trend of the product i went to Google trends to find the trend with related keywords of the products as you can seen In the given screenshots, the demand is pretty higher during Oct - Feb which is during the winter season every year, so now is the best time for getting started with it.
As you can see for both the keywords Coffee Frother & Electric Frother both are relevant keywords
Why this product?
Electric Frother these days has become a real popular kitchen gadget as more people now make coffee and drinks at home. Recently we saw a rise in the remote and hybrid work culture across the world has changed the people's lifestyle and now people has started enjoying the same cafe like coffee at home since they are spending more time working remotely at home.
Especially the winter season coming up, people are tend to drink more hot coffee and related things during winters, so it's the perfect product for selling this winter season, because hot beverages seasonal demand increases so much during the fall and winters.
Keyword Research
It's a must do task for selling any product or services because it consist of finding possible search queries the customer write on search engine to get the results with different intentions.
There are mainly 4 types of keywords with intents
1 - Informational - A type of keyword intent where the user want to find information regarding a product or service.
2 - Navigational - With this intent the users are likely trying to find a specific page or a specific website for example - searching on Google with "Electric Frother amazon" means user want to buy Electric Frother not through Google but navigate to amazon.
3 - Commercial - In this the user research various options for buying products or services, the conversion rate is also higher in such keywords intents.
4 - Transactional - This is when a user want to purchase a product or service from a specific product or a specific brand to purchase a product. For example "Buy X Brand Electric Frother"
Semrush Interface and keyword research
Helium10 was paid and jungle scout had weird interface, so I decided to use semrush keyboard research tool, i know it fetch from search engines but the search queries are mainly same on both, the volume may differ but you can use it as an alternate to do the keyboard research for your product.
Chosen keywords and reasons
1 - Electric milk Frother - General keyword for searching our product has higher volume and higher keyword difficulty (Means the level of difficulty you will face in getting a rank on specific keyword), this is more like a seed keyword that is to be used in our product titles and product description.. Since it describe the category of the product so it need to be included in the listing.
2 - Frother for coffee - This is another chosen keyword which most of us searches the type of product and with the need.. Like Frother for specific coffee some searches for milk and some for coffee so both need to be included... As you can see in the screenshot this keyword has less KD(31) As compared to the main keyword(43) and a good amount of search volume, getting ranked on this keyword will be easier as compared to the seed keyword.
3 - Coffee Frother - This is shot tail keyword, generally such keyword has high search volume and high keyword difficulty but this has less keyword difficulty and higher search volume than our 2nd keyword, so it will do the job for us.
We can also add other alternate keywords, but these are the main keywords that can get us good volume and a good rank on our product listing, to get an easy rank you can include more long tail keywords with medium volume and less keyword difficulty, as shown above in the screenshot.
Competitor Analysis
For this i have chosen a competitor selling the same product on amazon and has average rating of 4.2 Stars with 683 Ratings, means he's doing a great job and selling a good amount of units of the chosen product, so we can analyze his listing and find what he missed and when can use for our advantage, also his price is approx 600INR(7.5$)
Gaps in competitor listing
The listing describes the product as "Portable & Silent", but in my opinion we can make it more appealing we can add "Travel case" which makes it more attractive and target a large audience. People carry such things with them or when they shift or temporary shift.
Another case we can add is "How to clean and maintain the product" This listing doesn't tell you how to easy is it clean and use it again and again and maintain properly to make it more durable, along with this we can also add features like how easy is it to detach and clean, even cleaning brush to add more hygiene.
