"Anxious key" Satoshi Nakamoto promulgated at the bitcoin conference in Lisbon

nakamoto-key.jpgThe so-called alarm key - the private key of Satoshi Nakamoto to the signal system of the bitcoin network - was first introduced to the general public on Tuesday, July 3, at the Building on Bitcoin 2018 conference in Lisbon.

He did this during his performance on the stage of Brian Bishop of LedgerX.

In addition, several hours before the start of the conference, he also published signal keys in the mailing list for bitcoin developers.

"In this email, the alarming keys of bitcoin are revealed. This was preceded by the disclosure of several known vulnerabilities in the once existing signaling system. At the moment the signal system is completely abolished. There are no risks to the network, and this warning can be ignored unless you are using an ancient node (v0.12.x or older), "Brian Bishop wrote.

According to his report, the signal keys look like this:

The signal system was originally implemented in version 0.3.10 to alert all network clients about critical vulnerabilities or attacks. The system lasted until November 2016 and was abolished in version 0.13.10. The key itself, however, until today, the general public remained unknown.

Previously it was believed that only Satoshi Nakamoto, former Bitcoin Core developer Gavin Andresen and administrator of the bitcointalk.org Theymos forum possessed it. Then it became known that other members of the network may have this key.

An alarm key would be embedded in the code base by bitokoin creator Satoshi Nakamoto after the incident in August 2010, but he personally did not use it. The first use of the key was recorded in February 2012, after which in 2013 the key was used to warn the nodes about the occurrence of an unintended fork. In addition, in several cases, it sent messages about the need for urgent software updates to the current version.

To abandon the key developers have raised concerns that it can be used against the interests of the system. It was also suggested that the key could be in the hands of the Japanese police as a result of an investigation into the Mt.Gox exchange and its owner Mark Karpeles

On his intention to make the key public, Brian Bishop said in mid-June, when he signed a message "I'm not Craig Wright. Unlike me, he can not sign messages with the alarm key of bitcoin. "

Let's remind, earlier the Australian programmer Craig Wright repeatedly declared, that he is the mysterious creator bitcoin Satoshi Nakamoto, however to give necessary proof and could not.
