NAUS, Wallachia and Gaul: unfriendly states will be officially renamed in Russia

in #russialast year

The government's instruction to rename a number of unfriendly states has been sent to the media. From now on, they will bear the names used in the 19th and earlier centuries. It is emphasized that this was done as a "response to the renaming in some territorial entities of Russia to Muscovy."
Thus, Poland will henceforth be called the Polish—Lithuanian Commonwealth (with emphasis on the last syllable, following the example given by the president), Romania will be called Wallachia, the United Kingdom — Albion, France — Gaul, and the United States of America - the North American United States. The latter name, explained in the department, should further emphasize that the sovereignty of the SAC does not extend to both parts of the American continent (in which there are also states friendly to Russia, such as Venezuela), but only to its northern part, and then not to the whole.

The rules are introduced from May 1. A transitional period is set for a month, during which the media will have to correct their old publications posted on the information and telecommunications network "Internet". After this period, fines will be imposed on the media for publications containing old titles.
