My Journey To A Great North Run 1hr25 (Day 2)
So on to day 2 of my running training.
My plan for today was a 3 mile tempo run followed by a recovery run on the treadmill in the evening.
So I started out with the tempo run. I did 2 miles to warm up, then on to the 3 tempo miles, which only turned out to be 2 as I soon realised my legs were still rather battered from a speed session a couple days ago, so I decided to cut it short and then finished off with 2 easy miles to cool down. (Tempo was about 7:06 m/mile)

Evening time and I did a lovely 30 mins recovery. Nice and easy (probably about 9:40 m/mile)... and pretty much boring. Well it was on the treadmill, but I can only get out running once per day (agreement with the other half).

Just received my heart rate monitor today. I used it on the treadmill run and seems to work fine, so will probably be basing my training a lot on heart rate. But, will see how things go. I am probably going to take at least 2 easy days between key workouts, as I need more time to recover properly, don't want to burn myself out.
Tomorrow will be a nice easy run, may head up on to the trails to make it more fun. Will try and take some piccies if I do.
