Week 13 Marathon Training Recap
If you haven't noticed yet, I'm counting down my marathon training weeks, not up. I realized that might be confusing to some people. So, 13 weeks till the marathon and 5 weeks into an 18 week training plan.
It's been a pretty fantastic week of running. I've had no hiccups this week and it's been solid! I got in a pretty good long run as well and felt really good. I ordered a new hydration vest which turned out to be a game changer. In the past, I used an old camelback. Boy, was I missing out. I really should have ordered this hydration vest a long time ago. It holds about 50oz of water and hugs my upper back perfectly. It has several pockets in the back and on the straps in the front. The front pockets are large enough to hold my phone or extra water bottles if you need them. Even with a phone or extra water bottles there is still plenty of room for fuel. I was able to safely stow away my gloves in the back and it didn't bother me at all. For such a small pack, it really hits all the check boxes of what I needed. And it doesn't bounce at all! If you are looking around for a new hydration pack, I highly suggest looking into this one.
You can find it on Amazon for only $89.95 which I think is pretty affordable. Osprey Packs Dyna 1.5L Women's Running Hydration Vest, Reef Teal: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07JX1TNZM/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_LQJMCb6RG8VXG
Here is the rundown for my week:
- Monday - Rest Day
- Tuesday - 6.6 mile tempo run - average 7:48/mi pace
- Wednesday - 6.1 mile easy run - average 8:09/mi pace
- Thursday - Rest Day
- Friday - 5.3 mile easy run - average 8:09/mi pace
- Saturday - 7 mile easy run - average 8:27 pace.
- Sunday - 16.7 mile long run - average 8:47 pace.
Total = 42 miles
My long run was probably my best long run to date. The temps were perfect, around 50 degrees and I discovered the holy grail (at least for me) for hydration. I didn't have any gatorade around the house, so I decided to try some left over pedialyte from when the kids were sick. Best decision ever. I'm quite the salty sweater and this definitely filled in the gaps with that. I didn't realize before how much dehydration slowed me down. Hoping that when temps start creeping up again pedialyte will continue to not disappoint!
Well, that's it for now! Hope everyone has a solid running week!
Looking strong!!💪💪
