Hello Everyone. Hope your week is off to a fabulous start and that this post finds you doing well. Last weekend my beloved and I had a couple friends over, and spent several hours together cooking food, catching up, having a few laughs, and playing with the kitties. Good times were had and they generously gave us a lovely set of wooden runes which they painstakingly carved and wood burned for us. Over the past week we have been enjoying the it very much. It's among one of the most personal handcrafted gifts we have received in a long time, and I love how intuitive using these runes is.

I’m an eclectic pagan, spiritually speaking, with a lot of inklings... I dabble, explore, and use stuff from all over the place, but I enjoy Celtic stuff, earthy stuff, runes and viking stuff a lot. Runes, much like tarot cards, have been used for centuries as a tool of reading/divination, gaining insight and setting intentions. They also have been used across various cultures as writing system too! I did a reading last night and gained a lot of creative insight and clarity about both work and domestically related stuff. I enjoy using different card decks, but runes for me have a more grounded, visceral, raw, primal vibe that is really enjoyable...I feel magically adept, creative and mentally astute, but less flighty and more present versus using most of the card decks in my library. Having been out of touch with my “path” spiritually speaking for a while, these came to us at a welcome time, especially since my 20 year old clay set pieces are very worn.

On a nerdier, gamier level I am also excited about these runes as they offer us a useful gaming aide and tool. If we decide to play a game of the Fate of the Norns RPG (a viking themed roleplaying game where all the skills, magic and combat checks/skills/effects are done through drawing runes rather than rolling dice) we have a beautiful set that will be a joy to use. I also played a Pathfinder Society game last week, and lent them to a friend substitute for his witch character’s “Harrow” deck, and it worked out really well. This rune set is one of those awesome things that is good for personal reflective stuff, nerdy gamer stuff, costume stuff and focused intention stuff and it’s the kind of gift I enjoy from others because it is thoughtful, lovingly made and very personal..

Thankfully, I am now spending more time doing self reiki, meditating, doing the 8 brocades and drawing. As such, I am really focusing more on making my ideas and actions more concrete and look forward to all the wild experiences with them ahead. So...to all the readers? What are some of your favorite “magickal” chill out, make awesome things happen, feel good methods, practices and tools?
