Either way, the psychopath derives his power from those who simply refuse, for whatever reason, to speak up in opposition.

I agree that no intelligent and serious person should be reverent of anything or anyone, whether it be an author, a religious document or a government document. We are free people and we should aspire to be as good, reasonable and intelligent as any who existed before us... but to talk about the constitution as if it were strictly a power grab akin to something from the Soviet Union or China just begs the question for an intellectually honest person. Be more moderate in your criticisms.
If this is not the case, then I say with Spooner, the constitution either facilitated the current power structure or it was impotent to stop it. Either way...tell me how exactly it has protected you in your daily life. Perhaps you can start with an experience at the airport during a "security check." By the way...these are airports in the U.S., NOT in China or Russia. Please be intellectually honest. Thanks. :)
I don't think I am the one with the difficult facts to explain. Is what happens at the airport right? No. Is what happens with our tax system and all the whimsical government largesse OK? No. It is well known that authors like Alexis de Tocqueville worried that the US would turn in to what it has turned into in this respect.
However, this is a far cry from what happens in most of the rest of the world. Even in Canada, where I live, people can have their lives ruined for saying kind of rude shit like, "sodomy is a sin and will be punished with hell fire."
So take a break from focusing on the things you don't like about the United States and take a minute once in awhile to remind yourself about how great it is, too. Otherwise, you may as well join forces with SJWs and spend the day plotting the downfall of the US.

I think today is hard to change governments mostly because the culture of modern society. I mean, even if we had a brand new government structure that would benefit everyone, today's society probably would resist because they want to see only what they choose to believe.
