The BlittzBokke celebrate after defeating New Zealand 24-12 in Dubai

The current champions, South African Sevens team begun the season with a series win in Dubai after beating New Zealand 24-12. They began the tournament by beating Uganda 19-10 before thrashing the Kenyan team 48-5 and finished off the group stage by beating Canada 28-0.
The cup quarter-finals saw South Africa beat Samoa 26-10 before facing Fiji in the semis and winning 12-7. The New Zealand team were no match for the BlittzBokke with tries from Senatla, Smith, Snyman and TE Agaba.
Smith Kwagga was named the HSBC player of the finals. Philip Snyman, the captain acknowledged that there was a lot of positive to take from this tournament but he also noted that there was a need to improve as the team heads to the Capetown Sevens tournament in a week's time.

The Series Table standings have South Africa on top with New Zealand, England, and Fiji at the top 4. Kenya is in position seven while Uganda, United States, and Russia at the bottom three.
