Bad Behavior Can Cost You

Not a day goes by without some kind of scandal is picked up by the media. The other day I saw on BBC News that the Australian rugby player Israel Folau got in trouble for writing anti-gay posts on social media.

His contract was terminated in May, he had been suing Rugby Australia and been asking for compensation and a return to the national side. He's been one of the nation's highest-paid athletes and even though he's reached a settlement with Rugby Australia, there's no word about if he's going to be taken back.

Another athlete who's got into trouble about his comment in social media. It's the Hungarian Olympic speed skater champion Csaba Burján has used the f word about China in one of his Instagram post because he says he was tired and angry. This happened because after arriving at Shanghai to participate in the World Cup series event, there was a queue at the airport. The post got deleted and he apologized later but he's going to face disciplinary actions.

The Hungarian speed skating team has a Chinese coach, Lina Zhang Jing, ho has resigned and asked for an official apology but the Federation did not accept her resignation. Csaba Burján was not allowed to participate in the games, was sent home instead and removed from the national team and as I've said, he's going to face disciplinary actions.

Not long ago there was a series of incidents like this in tennis, where players could not control their anger or they thought their actions are funny. Fines are handed out when something like this happens, at least in tennis. As I said in my previous post, you can be a star in sport, you can win the world but you also need to learn to behave and respect each others. Some can do that, others need to learn the hard way.
