I was unaware that coinage was in use in Mexico in the 1200's. Did I misread the date '13th to 16th Century'?

Nope. You read correctly. Here's the quote:

The coins were used in what are now Michoacán and Guerrero between the years 1200 and 1500, according to Jessica Cascante, spokesperson for the Mexican Consulate in Miami.

Well, I'll be hornswoggled. My gast is completely flabbered. Thank you very much for this amazing contribution to my edumacation. I would have never guessed coinage was circulated in pre-Columbian America.
