The Real Madrid superstar has reportedly accepted a suspended prison sentence and hefty fine as he prepares to begin his World Cup 2018 journey with Portugal.

THE PORTUGUESE star has received a two-year suspended sentence and a huge fine.

After reportedly admitting his guilt in exchange for a reduced charge, he must now pay a sum of £16.4million.

This includes the £5m he allegedly avoided paying, as well as fees and interest.!

He has received a suspended sentence and fine, which is common in Spain.

Ronaldo admitted four charges of fraud meaning under Spanish law he wouldn't need to face any time in jail.

Back in 2016, Lionel Messi received a 21-month prison sentence but did not have to go to jail due to a law in Spain that allows sentences under two years to be served under probation.

But the Argentine's sentence was reduced to a fine on appeal last year.

Real Madrid star Ronaldo is thought to be unhappy in the Spanish capital, where he earns around £350,000-a-week, which pales in comparison to Neymar's £619,000 at PSG.
