8am this morning I was sitting with Roli Tschoder looking at weather reports trying to work out if we should head for Kaunertal or Stubai. Stubaital was clearly a winner on the weather front as Kaunertal was shrouded in cloud, but then Roli says "I think we should go to Kaunertal anyway" . Driving up the valley the glacier looked like a scene from Mordor, oh shit! but as we arrived at the park the fog and clouds shifted, the sun came out, and we could see a huge gap jump over the chill area that the Park crew had created the night before, apparently they were up there working on it till 2am. Mucho Respect to Sebastian "veiti" and the Kaunertal shaping crew. A couple of speed checks later and As you can see it all worked out good. We were shooting the gap all afternoon, we had it to ourselves as Roli was the only snowboarder to hit it the whole day. As soon as we left the park around 4 the cloud came back in and it started to lightly snow . so the moral of the story is always go with your gut feeling! or is it?, always go to Kaunertal?
