Since September 2009, when bitcoin was first introduced, many people have been gearing up with bitcoin miners, which is necessary to be able to mine it, since it uses PoW (proof-of-work). A few years later, came along Litecoin which uses PoW as well.

Throughout the years, many alt coins, cryptocurrencies that aren't bitcoin, have been created for different purpose. With those alt coins along and a high cost of miners, people started buying GPUs (Graphic Processing Unit ), also known as Graphic Cards. Those graphic cards require a whole desktop setup, such as a motherboard, a CPU, a power supply, fans, cooling system among other things. All that costs a lot of money to buy and electricity as well to keep them going 24/7.

Here come PoS (proof-of-stake). PoS, like PoW (proof-of-work), needs a device to be connected to the blockchain to be able to "hash" a block. Unlike PoW, PoS does not require high-end equipment at a high price and high electricity consumption. All you need is a simple device with your favorite alt coin wallet and have it connected to the internet. Pretty simple right? So why would we need an electricity monster Personal Computer (PC) just to have a single software open? You actually don't have to.

Raspberry pi and PINE64 are able to meet your staking requirements. Developed by a programmer under the alias of OKToshi, ROKOS, or ROK OS, has seen the light. It's an ARM-based operating system that comes with both OKCash and Bitcoin core wallets. Other alt coins wallet have been implemented with the ROKOS flavor edition, keeping OKCash and Bitcoin among them. This OS allows you to use a simple, small and economic device to stake your coins or just hold your wallets.

A small device such as the raspberry pi, makes it perfect for anyone that pays an expensive electricity bill. Using approximately 100W a day, the raspberry pi will reduce your electricity consumption (instead of running a full PC for your wallet). The support that comes from the OKCash community that helps you personally, or with video-based and text-based tutorial that are youtube and their forum at okcashtalk.org.

Right now, the current ROKOS version is ROKOS v6. There is a new release fpr the ROKOS v7, along with some tutorials, pretty soon. The new OS version comes with a fast-sync script, because current Ubuntu script is for PC CPUs and not ARM CPUs, easier installation and other useful features (I'm not going to ruin all the best surprises ;) ). Everything about OKCash wallet, scipts can be found at okcash.co and the ROKOS can be found at rokos.space. All updates and release informations can be found on the forum at okcashtalk.org and the live community on discordapp.
