Syria Afrin/Rojava News - SDF shot down a Turkish warhelicopter, Turkey with little territorial gains

As 'operation olivebranch' enters the third week of fighting, Turkish Army and allied Syrian opposition and semi-jihadist forces have progressed little into kurdish dominated, SDF-held, Afrin kanton.

While the Syrian Arab Army lets SDF reinforcement troops from Manbij pass SAA-territory, Russia has still not made clear whether Afrin kantons airspace is subject to SAA-airdefence measures against Turkeys severe bombing activities.

The operations is getting significantly more expensive for Turkey to continue as no significant progress is made in Afrin.

Mutual reports on life- and material-losses suggest that Turkey will have problems to financially sustain this conflict:

• 80 dead soldiers, 200 wounded
• 3 Leopard A2 tanks destroyed by SDF, each 2 million €
• 3 armored vehicles destroyed
• T-129 combat helicopter shot down by SDF, 40 million $
