35 ♣ Government is issuing special category visa for relief workers in Rohingya camp: PM

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina reassured the special envoy of Myanmar of Canada, saying that the visa problem of foreign aid workers working in Rohingyas camp will be resolved.

When special envoy Bob Ray met on Monday (June 11th) at his hotel suite with the Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina said, "The government has been carefully monitoring the matter. Because, many foreign nationals are working in Rohingya camps in Bangladesh to visit tourist visa.
Sheikh Hasina said, "The government is worried about the intrusion of many foreign nationals of the relief workers, which can lead to trafficking of women and children, sexual abuse, terrorism and other social problems."
He said, "The government is issuing special category visas for relief workers to solve this problem. He urged the special envoy to inform the government if any problem arises.
After the meeting, Prime Minister's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim told reporters, "Bob Ray told the Prime Minister that he is making a report on the inspection of the Rohingya refuge camp in Bangladesh in November of last year."
Bob Ray said, "During the visit, she witnessed the suffering of the Rohingya Muslims fleeing Myanmar due to violence." She said, "It is a big challenge to provide shelter to 10 million people." He said, "They are working closely with Bangladesh government on the Rohingya issue."
The press secretary said, "The Prime Minister and Bob Ray also discussed the possible sufferings of Rohingya in the coming rainy season. There is danger of landslides, floods and other natural disasters in the area.
The Prime Minister told the special envoy that a team of trained people is ready to face any situation. There are law enforcement agencies, borders, armed forces and political party workers.
Later, Deputy Prime Minister of Saskatchewan Province and Minister of Trade and Export Promotion, Gordon Went QC and Minister of Immigration and Career Training, Jeremy Harrison met with the Prime Minister at a courtroom in his hotel room.
They discussed trade and investment and recalled Canada's special commercial relationship for many years. They congratulated him for the economic success of Bangladesh in recent years under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. They expressed interest in the expansion of commercial relations and relocation of technology.
Recalling the historic relationship between Bangladesh and Canada since independence, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, "There are many opportunities for strengthening cooperation between the two countries in various fields, including education and nursing sectors."
Besides, a delegation led by the President and CEO of the Commercial Corporation of Canada met with the Prime Minister. The Bangladeshi-born Canadian businessmen were also in the delegation.
Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali, PM's Principal Secretary Najibur Rahman, Bangladesh Investment Promotion Board (BIDA) chairman Kazi Mohammad Aminul Islam, Foreign Secretary Md. Shahidul Haque and Bangladesh's High Commissioner to Canada Mizanur Rahman was present at the time.
