Rock and minerals macro photography: flat stone with black specks, ridges and ripples.

Part 10:It has black dots with wavy bands inside the rock. Almost looks like something a high end kitchen countertop granite or marble material.

I found this piece in the North Georgia mountains walking through a stream with my friend @ryulincoln

This quarter sized piece of stone was so shiny I saw it through moving water walking up a stream. I have video of myself finding the stone, and one of my followers @gandalfthewhite pointed out in the comments my discovery

I kept the stone in my waders until I could get home to examine it better.

Three photos of the stone with close up macro photos, it has a glassy finish but can flake if off you work at it with your fingernail.

Side shots of the stone, I wonder what this came off of. The edges have an interesting wavy pattern in them as as well.

One side of it appears to be chipped, helps to see inside the stone better.

Lastly a few reference photos next to a US quarter.

I am really glad I pulled out my macro camera to get some shots. Thanks for the tip @bitfiend and good looking out @gandalfthewhite good eyes on my video :-) Any tips on identification would be appreciated.

    Well, I really do not know what this is either but I would love to find out. Looks like a mixture of some rocks, kind of haha. Like slate, gold/copperand some other crystal. Idk.

    Beautiful photos as always @solominer! You... rock! Rocks look foliated and looks like a schist. i.e. metamorphic.

    appreciated, thanks for taking a look at it and giving me some idea of what it is. I see what you mean, on the sides of the rock they have that same look schist.
