First Summer Road Trip with the Family: Grape Picking

in #roadtrip7 years ago (edited)

Out of boredom, we decided to have a roadtrip and headed north. It was a spur of the moment plan and everyone is up for it. No destination, no plan. Just started the car and headed north.

The spontaneity of the trip was exciting. We never knew that we would get to discover something rewarding.

Grape Picking.

I wanted to share this photobook I made as a remembrance.

We have to walk a few kilometers from where the car was parked. So it is highly recommended to bring a protection against the summer heat. Or it is best to go early morning when the sun is not yet so high or at late afternoons.

This is in a vineyard in Caba, La Union. There are actually lots of vineyards to choose from. But we picked Gapuz Grapes Farm. Not for anything but we were glad it has no entrance fee.

My little one enjoying her grape-picking. She actually got almost 2 kilos of grapes on her basket, and only she know how many kilos she got on her stomach. LoL.

Yes, the caretakers allow the visitors to have a “freetaste” of the grapefruits. See those smiles from all the munching. Lol.

We spent an entire afternoon picking and eating grapes.

It was a fun experience. I never knew we could grow grapes in the Philippines then, but I learned that people of La Union have been growing grapes since 1972. But it was only recently that it has become popular.

Grape Picking though is not open all-year round, and we were just blessed to have visited the place during the “picking season” which usually starts March and runs until May. Or until supply lasts— meaning until there are still grapefruits to pick. LoL.

I prefer grapes with seeds. It is healthier than seedless kasi free or has less chemicals. Always soak grapes in water with salt first before eating and same goes to other food like strawberries and vegetables.

Hehe. Ayos, nadagdagan ako ng isang follower. Hehehe. Oo maganda, at masarap grapes nila.

Grapes is my favorite fruit! Yay! I love this farm, the trees will surely cry because of my grape craving. lol

A great adventure though! :)

Yeah, it is also my daughter’s. That is why she thought she was in cloud 9 when she saw all the grapes hanging, waiting to be picked.
