Road to Steemfest3 (11): Fears ๐ฑ๐ฑ
The eleventh installment in my #roadtosteemfest series, the brain-child of @anomadsoul as he encourages attendees, and those trying their hardest to get there, to write about their journey along the way.

A rehash of a meme I posted during the way home following last years Steemfest to start proceedings, and what could be linked to a likely common fear of some attendees - what if people don't like me?
Having made one festival already, I am probably less fearful than some Steemians making their way to Poland this year. I'm not worried about losing the odd follower, and based on my experience, as long as you don't take a dump in the main conference hall, touch @neds hair, or offer your services as this years stand-up comedian, you are probably likely to add to your total.
As a group of people coming together with one huge thing in common, there's always a conversation to fall back on, with literally everybody you see. Just go up to someone and ask:
Do you think @anomadsoul is 2 or 3 days without shower now?
What's that new @steemmonsters game everyone's talking about?

I held around 4000 SP prior to last years event, and < 4000 followers (on memory). Fortunately, I have around 3 times of each now, and so not fearful here. Most people still like me, and if you follow the 'guidance' above, the same will be true for you. Actually, touching Ned's hair might bring you even better luck than me, just probably don't do the other two.
If I was presenting at the event, then I would likely have that way at the top of my fears list. Today I was doing a little analysis work to go into one of the presentations (Go @llfarms!), and spent way more time than usual making sure I had it right. Happily though, I can pass this over to the presenter and as long as they understand the data/chart, my work is done and I can sit back and heckle to my hearts content.
What about the house I'm staying in though? How many party animals and guys that snore like troopers do we have present? This is a concern, not so much a fear, but late nights and early starts are not my cup of Cider. The plan here, and I think it's wise to have a few plans as it provides guidance/solutions when new things arise - like a 40 year old guy snoring like bear just a few feet away, is to sort some ear-plugs out, and drink water.
I've read a couple of #roadtosteemfest posts and comments this evening, and I'm learning that others are discussing water intake. Hopefully I'll be reminded by these seeing these guys with water, and think 'that's a good idea', instead of something beginning with 'P', and sounding like 'hussies'. Luckily in this regard, the local temperature will be around -27 and it's only beer dehydration that I'll have to worry about.
Oh yeah, keys? How many house keys are we going to have? Who's going to be in charge if it's less than one each? I'm not really down for standing outside a house, looking like a lost tourist. Should we leave one under the left plant-pot by the porch?
I'm only taking a carry on bag, and so have to state (again) that I'm a little concerned about my clothes variety. However, If I continue mentioning this in every 3rd post I write before the event, hopefully people will come to accept that my undies will be clean, and the rest likely worn the day before. (@roelandp, I have last years t-shirts, are we doing woolly Steemit Hoodies this year cause that would be fantastico)
Only having the time to write shit-posts. There's one! 100% mobile is not really a great excuse for short/sub-par posting if you look at the work some do here on just a handheld device alone, but I'm stating in advance: Shorter posts, no 'data' posts, and...

Perhaps I'll do a midweek special upon returning home to make it up to you.
Two trips abroad, and around a year pretty much full time Steem. I guess the fear is that all this ends up as a huge waste of time. I'm hopeful this wont be the case, and it's likely that the other 300 or so fearless attendees are feeling confident for the future of Steem too.
We all own crypto, not much left to be afraid of after this years roller-coaster ๐

Then again, there's a great chance that within no time you'll be noticed and famous here on the platform. At least, not to be forgotten.

This made me laugh.. so much. The school disco is the original proving ground. How was it in the end? Did SF2 turn out to have a corner for the minnows?
I bottled it and got an extra bag from Ryanair so I got one 10kg carry on and a laptop bag now. Yeah... I know this is cheating ;-)
heh :) I didn't spot a corner for the minnows, but then again, I didn't really know who was a minnow/dolphin etc. I may have a better idea this year though :p

I'm having the same concerns with luggage space and cold weather chunky clothes, really hope we get a chunky Steemfest hoody too!! Luckily I'll have a washing machine in my apartment, which I will definitely be making use of. So if you do have a laundry emergency, feel free to come find me!

Quit worrying about your clothes girly-boy and everything will be just fine :) It's like me here ... if I go anywhere, I have a few shorts, tank tops or swimsuits to choose from haha In fact, that's why I bowed out of Steemfest this year; I just didn't want to have to wear the same swimsuit three days in a row!
And who are you kidding, skip the Sunday League post and don't make any mid-week promises. You'll thank me around Nov.13 when you're still wiped from the weekend :)

We'll see about the Leagues, a week off once in a while could be a good thing for me and the participants. Hopefully this week I'm back in the top 20 - last week was embarrassing :D
I can tell you're embarrassed by all of your little comments about it all over the place, but truthfully, I didn't see it as a big deal. Just because their "your" Leagues, doesn't mean that you don't have a life outside of steemit occasionally too :)
I don't even have a pair of jeans or long pants anymore haha I think a pair of good ol' yoga pants buried somewhere!
I can recommend 'hearos' earplugs... I got mine on recommendation of a friend who trialled lots of them.
I'm not worried about anything. Then again I've booked a hotel room, and if it all gets too much I can just spend five days in it ordering room service!
Your airline must be tight on baggage - Mine allows a small suitcase and laptop bag as walk ons. Plenty room for a week's clothes and two coats.

I found some in Carrefour last year that were great once they are glued in, well worth 3 quid. Do the 'hearos' block out freight trains too? @tarazkp has warned us :)
8 kg, should be enough but i'll be wearing an extra layer or two on the flight if not.

If it is too bad the first night, I will happily find a cheap hotel room somewhere.

Hahaha! Appreciate the smiles Asher! Your plans for Krakow seem quite detail oriented. It's but a few weeks away now!! Wish i was able to attend. I will have to start preparing for SteemFest4 ๐

Yes 12 days to go until the flight out.
If you put 1 STEEM a day into your savings starting today, that should cover a ticket for next year - location permitting. By then, SMT should be out, and we'll be on course for the Moon :D
That's a great way to think of it Asher! I appreciate the perspective. And, looking at the past year (my steem 1st birthday just passed) that target you mention isn't far off. I have earned 349 (or so) steem in the past year. It's pretty logical to think i could do that again!! #goals #steemfest4

The joys of sharing bedrooms lol.... with the earplugs you'll be fine I'm sure!
Oh and the clothing issue! If forgot to put that one on my list too! Definitely afraid I don't fit in as I don't have any proper "conference" clothes, or fancy evening clothes for the drinks and dinners. My life is pretty much shorts and flip flops, and I definitely don't have any winter stuff...oh well, I hope there's an H&M nearby
Hey that's me too. I've been in shorts, t-shirts, and flip-flops since may!
Most people will be fairly casually dressed - it's just about adapting to the cold :D

That's exciting you're getting to go. I think you'll have a lot of fun. You seem like one of those people who other people want to meet. You're a very well-known Steemian, so I'm sure it will be fine. That's cool you're putting together info for some of the presenters!
It's strange to say it, but I think my profile has grown a bit since a year ago. Not that it should matter of course.
Yes I did a little analysis work today, it speaks very well of a well know curation outfit :)
Profile helps. It's nice to have more people know who you are because it makes them more likely to partner with you, or at least support you.
