In many ways Ripple actually represents a new and improved version of Bitcoin and an evolution in blockchain technology. Ripple improves existing financial infrastructures with almost real-time transaction settlements- it's also currency/value agnostic and is built to be compliant with existing financial laws and regulatory frameworks. Bitcoin may continue to hold value as a digital commodity, but Ripple is by far the more efficient payment network and protocol for moving value digitally around the world!
