Ripple's CTO, David Schwartz, has made a prediction on the future of blockchains. He believes that Bitcoin-like PoW chains are likely to be the most popular type of blockchain in 10 years' time.

In an interview with CoinDesk, Schwartz said: It's kind of inevitable that all sorts of different blockchains will be competing for market share and so we're going to see more and more companies building their own private blockchains.

He added: I think it's more likely than not that over the next decade or two we're going to see lots of different blockchain technologies competing for market share.
