That was excellent! I loved the twist at the end. I read a book "Comedy Writing Secrets" many years ago, and one of the things it described is that a good joke should lead the listener down a familiar path, and then veer away at the last word -- at the last syllable, if possible.
This wasn't humor, but it used a similar construct. And moved me. Thanks!
