DO MONSTERS REALLY EXIST?
A few days ago, I was home and I turned on the TV. I didn't have a specific show on my mind, so I started to change the channels and I came across with nothing more and nothing less than an animated SCOOBY-DOO film, a classic of HANNA BARBERA. I must confess that all the cartoons that I watched as a kid were totally different from the ones we see on air today. In fact, many were full of positive messages and tried to teach certain values to children… others not so much… but that is material for another Post. Back to Scooby-Doo, I realized that the plot is the same in each episode and this movie was not different; Fred, Daphne, Velma, Shaggy and Scooby, they're driving (The Mystery Machine) on the road and get somewhere we don’t even know, they meet a character who tells them that something strange is happening in town and that they are being scared by a monster. Then, they willingly (without agreeing any payment, not even a STEEM DOLLAR) start to investigate what's happening. Then, they unravel the mystery little by little, through clues they find on the road and thanks to the skills of each (and of course the hunger and the clumsiness of Shaggy and Scooby), they manage to clarify the facts and solve the mystery. The End.

But who are these individuals? What do they really represent? And why do they do it? In my humble opinion, the villains represent flesh and blood human beings, with the mask that they constantly use to sneak into society and go unnoticed. I might be ruining your childhood or the way you see Scooby-Doo, but nothing further. My intention is that you see the perspective that they give us with a new pair of glasses.
Innocently, we do not want to believe that these things happen all the time. The Scooby-Doo show is nothing more than a metaphor for society itself and the way in which most people run away from their problems without facing them. And only a few help others to solve them. I am not making any excuses, but the so-called "monsters" have their reasons to be the way they are. My conclusion is that fantastic creatures do not exist and the real monsters are and will always be the human beings.

I agree. When I used to teach creative writing, I advised my students that a believable human being capable to terrible things is far more frightening than a two-dimensional monster.
I totally agree with you. That's why I wrote the post. Thank you very much for taking a few minutes of your time to read it. It means a lot to me. You really are a good friend. I
