The Ancient Magus Bride: a fascinating animated series not to be missed!

Korean Yamazaki's The Ancient Magus Bride (Mahou Tsukai no Yome) made much talk of him with the arrival of his adaptation in anime. But the real question is whether it reaches the ankle of the manga

The first 3 episodes of the animated series were previewed on Friday, September 22, 2017, and there is no need to say: the WIT studio (Shingeki no Kyojin) continues to prove that it is capable of doing honor to the manga that adapts!
The animated series (24 episodes?) Begins on October 07, 2017, in Japan

Synopsis:

History draws us into the fantastic adventures of Elias Ainsworth, a powerful wizard with a demon skeleton head, and his new disciple / wife, Chise Hatori.
Together, they traverse the enchanted and dangerous world of the supernatural according to the needs and missions of Elias.
Thus Chise will discover a new world populated by incredible beings and by the same duty to master the magic that gives it the status of Slay Vega that it actually carries since its birth.

IMPRESSIONS:

The first 3 episodes are fairly representative of what is going to be the global series: a mystical and relaxing adventure in a dream world populated by magical beings, myths and legends.
The story settles slowly and initiates us to its universe, distilling information about the environment in which Chise will have to evolve.
The creatures, the environment and the characters are revealed as and when, which allows us to discover at the same time that the heroine the world where we were embarked. Just like the manga, the anime takes time. And this is skilfully conducted.

By laying the foundations of the narrative in this way, the mysteries are accentuated and make us curious about everything: whether it be the character of Elias, a sorcerer very intriguing as much by his appearance as by his status, or by Chise herself whose past is simply evoked by short flashbacks, and even beings who revolve around them, apparently peaceful but hide ambitions that are much less so ...
In brief everything is to be discovered and it makes us want to explore in depth this universe which is described to us as marvelous and dangerous at the same time.

Universe that is not unlike that of a Black Butler or even a Harry Potter where there are wizards and reclusive reindeers, shops specialized in magic material, a secret coexistence between magic and the world of humans, all in a 19th century English setting.
However, the atmosphere here is much more warm and poetic, mainly thanks to the magical fauna, ranging from the tiniest of fairies to the imposing dragons, familiar and other spirits with a youthful appearance, but also thanks to this very rich, verdant flora and sparkling.
You will have understood, the visual aspect is one of the strong points of this adaptation.

The graphics are beautiful, neat, very colorful and very detailed; the animation is fluid and often surprising, and chara design totally seductive.
The series arrives from these three episodes to give totally want to pose in front and let his mind travel to the end.
The calm atmosphere of this anime and its beauty are a real balm in the heart. However, even if the general plot is peaceful, it creates moments of suspense very easily by breaking the tranquility of the moment by exciting action scenes, playing on very well realized and animated slowdowns.
To succeed in plunging the viewer into this fantastic universe, the OST is for something; effectively bringing in the different scene changes. In this, the anime would almost make one think of a Miyazaki!
Music that reinforces the presence on screen of its protagonists.

Elias Ainsworth, despite her disconcerting appearance is resolutely harmless. There is a protective and benevolent aura to his disciple, which contrasts with his physical and power, and the mystery that surrounds him makes him a captivating and charismatic figure (helped by a formidable seiyu).

Then at his side, Chise Hatori with the atypical personality but for which one develops immediately affection. Her progressive interest in her new life, this undisguised gratitude for what she receives and her sensitivity to the fantasy world makes her a pleasant character to follow.
A heroine of shonen as we would like to see more often!

Also, the unlikely but touching relationship between the two as well as the gap between their personalities creates many humorous situations that make them want to follow their relationship.
Finally, each new character brings something important, whether it be an evolution in the relations between Elias and Chise or in the apprenticeship of the latter, but especially of the elements that gradually complete the puzzle of the story we are eager to discover.
With a successful immersion in a vast universe and many mysteries to be drilled that immediately arouse our interest: the anime entertains incredibly well.
