The Flash Season 5 Finale: 'Legacy' Review
[SPOILER ALERT! Major spoilers from the episode below!]
All about Legacy.
A little on the nose, if you ask me. Anyway, while this episode wasn't over-the-top great, it did do okay for a season finale. A little overwhelming sometimes, a little underwhelming other times.
What really got to me was the absolutely shoddy time travel ruleset the show used. I guess it gets to me most times, but for an episode that was based on it, I had to keep from screaming in frustration too many times. First, the timeline is changed and yay! Grace's future self--Cicada 2 or She-cada, whichever you prefer--disappears from pur heroes' timeline immediately. What? What happened to the time buffer? Is that no longer a thing? Okay, let's say it's not and what happened to her is what happened to Thorne in season 1. Why then did it take so long for Nora to begin vanishing? And no one give me that 'because she's a speedster' crap. Oops... forgive my harsh tones. In fact, shouldn't that entire timeline have been erased totally, so that Thorne never goes to prison with the daggar-dampener? I'm just going to assume I'm too dumb to understand time in The Flash. Apparently only Thorne himself can. I'm not sure the writers do either.
Still, I won't lie, making the daggar Thorne's game was a masterful move on their part. I mean, we all know he had to have had a sinister plan behind the entire machinations. And then the Crisis references? So cool! I would've been so pissed if he had been taken out there in 2046, knowing he should be a big part of Fall's Crisis on Infinite Earths. And let's face it, he might be a super aggravating Big Bad, but who really wants to lose the Reverse Flash? Now that Sherloque has left (hopefully not for good... it's been such a long while since a Wells left the show triumphantly, I almost cried), I wonder what version of Wells we'll be getting for next season.Maybe the Reverse Flash Wells will be a greater part of it than we currently realise.
But I'm getting ahead of myself. Let's talk about Grace. Who else was disappointed with the way she was brought down? Don't get me wrong--the fight was cool. Still, Nora got to little Grace too fast and too easily. Yes, yes, I know she's had a little more experience, is better as a hero, blah blah blah, but I just didn't feel it. I know the Flash is a sunny show, but it would have been a lot more in character if the girl refused to listen and the Team was forced to take drastic decisions.
Maybe I've just been watching too much of The 100.
Speaking of decisions! Cisco's was VERY selfish! What the...?! Just after he used his vibes to raise Ralph from the point of death? After Camilla essentially endorsed his super hero career? After he joined the team to stop Thorne? How could he decide to give uo his powers FOR GOOD?! I do NOT understand it! While Cisco did go through a period earlier this season when he felt his powers were drawing him back, recent events and his free use of his abilities since then should have been enough to change his mind. If the writers just wanted to take vibing out of the show, then this is just lazy writing on their part.
But since I like to end on a positive note, I knew Singh was going to call Barry out as the Flash!!! Immediately Barry was summoned along woth Joe and Cecile, I knew the Captain knew. Or former Captain, I should say, now that the mantle has finally been passed to Joe West. Captain Joe West at last. Yee-hah!!! P.S: Joe looked absolutely ridiculous in that suit!
As a little extra...
Who wants to bet that instead of having Nora, Barry and Iris are going to have those twins in the new timeline? Yup, one way or the other, we must need those more diapers Barry mentioned last season. Oh, and cheesy end video, by the way. And another case where all evidence of Nora's stay was not erased.
And, after the finales of Arrow and Supergirl, I was really hoping to get a glimpse of the Monitor. Guess we'll ahve ti wait until next season for that.
What did you think of the episode and the entire season in general? Let's know in the comments!

I enjoyed watching it until Flash season 3. But the more I looked at it, the lighter the story became. There were a lot of things that I couldn't understand when I thought about them. So I stopped watching this series when season 4. If the viewers watch the drama lightly, they will enjoy it. Thank you for sharing a good review. You've got a just full upvote from us.
