Review: Desk shelf
Today I got a new shelf to use for my desk!
I ordered it off Amazon for £16.98 which is 95 STEEM.
I was excited as I thought the colour was very cute online, and I'm glad it was the same colour in person!
The package it came in was flat so it meant I needed to build it myself, which I knew when I ordered it so it wasn't a surprise for me.
out the box
It came packaged very neatly, and I was pleased it came with a screwdriver as I don't have one (so that was lucky!).
The instructions were just one double-sided page, which made me confident in building this.
step 1
After checking I had all the parts I should have, I did the first step, which was to lay out the main part flat the right side up. I thought this instruction wasn't necessary but I guess it can get confusing sometimes with lots of pieces in front of you.
already got it wrong
Despite how simple it looked, when I did step 2 I didn't even realise I had done it wrong. Not sure if you can spot it but in the picture above, I placed my base layer upside down! Luckily I realised this when I went onto the next step.
lining it up
I zoomed in here, but I needed to line up the black part with the hole in the frame, for the next step which was to screw it together on both ends.
screwdriver!
Here you can see me expertly screwing together the frame, it was a bit difficult at first before I had realised I had the base upside down, but as soon as I fixed that it was quick and easy.
next!
With the base secured, it was time to slot in and secure the top layer, this didn't take long either. I also had to screw this part securely on.
a slight issue
When I went to slot in the last piece, the middle shelf, I had a bit of difficulty. It wasn't able to slot in, as if the frame was too narrow. This made me panic a bit but after some thinking, I thought to loosen the screws, as I may have done them just too tight. This was the solution! I was glad that it now slot in, and I screwed the frame back to tightness for good measure.
The last part was to secure 4 small plastic feet onto the base. I didn't actually realise it needed these as I thought it just stood without them. I think this part was a nice touch as it limits any risks of scratching the surface you use the shelf on.
the plastic feet
And it was done! Here it is on the desk space I bought it for, I love the colour, especially with the colour of my desk and wall. Not only that, but the middle shelf can act as a draw, which is also nice.
finished
If you're looking for a shelf for your desk or maybe on a shelf somewhere, I would recommend this! It feels strong enough to hold some books and also seems like it will last a long time.
Your shelf looks very neat @jen0revision, and you've even gained a screwdriver !
