Pfalz Region Gewurztraminer Review
Halbtrocken means medium dry, which is just how we like it. This gewurztraminer wine originates in Germany and is somewhat similar to reislings. The first post we did here profiled a reisling from Oregon. Fellow steemian fabianklauder recommended a reisling from the Pfalz region in Germany. It's coming soon. For now we review this 2012 Pfalz gewurztraminer.
Nothing about this wine stood out, it was mild. The grapes didn't stand out, the minerals didn't stand out, the acidity didn't stand out, it was as if you put some yellow raisins in water. We are not complaining. It was a very pleasant experience. This is a high quality wine. We will buy more, we will enjoy it again. It just missed some personality. We admit we drank it without any hors d'oeuvre, a rookie mistake. If I had to do it over again I would do a rye with cheese, a touch of smoked salmon and onion with perhaps a touch of pickle. Perhaps this unobtrusive, peaceful experience will pop with a food accompaniment. Or pate, yes, a pate would go good with this. As it is we give this an 8.5 out of 10, welcome in our kitchen any time.
