A gap year between university years

in #restaurant7 years ago (edited)

As I started my first year of uni back in September of 2016, I thought I was set for the next 3 years... Little did I know that over the course of the year, my family life would be turned upside down. Little did I know that I would change my mind on the degree that I wanted to do.
As I set out to do an internal transfer at the university I was already studying at, it came to light that the course of my choice was full for this academic year. Now, I could either start in March 2018 or wait a year until September 2018. As I am very OCD about a lot of things, I had to wait until September. I had no idea what I was going to do for the year. Obviously I had to get a job, I couldn't just sit around all day doing nothing. I needed to keep myself occupied during the day for the next year.
I turned to the very job that every student tends to do... Waitressing. This is such an easy job to do as well as getting tips gives you some extra money.
One thing with waitressing, is that if the customers have a bad day, they tend to take it out on you. Customers can be extremely rude and grumpy when it comes to taking orders and how quickly food comes out. If you expect your food to come out within 5 minutes, then you have another thing coming. Especially if it's a Friday or Saturday night and the restaurant is fully booked. We do so much to make sure that you enjoy your food and have a pleasant experience, the least we ask for is some manners.
You've come out for a meal and without the waitors and waitress', you wouldn't be able to do that. Because we give up our evenings and weekends with our friends and families, you are able to go out for a meal.
