Steemit Update [ February 20th, 2023 ] : Steem Representatives
Country Representatives have played an important role in the development of Steem over the past couple of years.
In that time they have made a considerable contribution to the growth of the platform in their respective countries.
However there have been a number of departures over the last few months so we have decided to review the whole concept of Country Reps to see what changes and improvements might be made.
Goodbye Country Representatives, Hello Steem Representatives
One of the main limitations of the Country Rep system is that the number of appointments has always been tied to the number of Steemians in any country.
This has meant that some very talented individuals have largely missed out on the chance of being a Country Rep as there have been few or no other Steemians in their country.
We have therefore decided to de-link the Representatives from countries and instead have Steem Representatives rather than Country Representatives.
While many of the new Steem Representatives will still very much be supporting Steemians in their country, we also want to recruit Representatives who will have a much wider reach across the platform - both within communities and outside of communities.
We want to recruit the best, keenest and most dedicated Steemians wherever they are from.
The new Representatives should have demonstrated a long term commitment to Steem, have a thorough knowledge of how Steem works, be actively engaged both within communities and beyond, and be willing to help people across the whole platform.
They should particularly be keen and willing to give advice and guidance to Steemians both new and old, both through commenting and through direct communication.
As well as generally promoting Steem, Representatives should also actively promote and support new projects and initiatives launched by Steemit Inc and Tron.
Rewards for Steem Representatives
Steem Representatives will be rewarded in two ways - though a delegation and through votes on weekly reports.
As we are keen to reward commitment to the platform, the delegation will increase according to the amount of Steem Power a Representative has…
Representatives with at least 12,500 SP will receive a delegation of 5,000 SP.
Representatives with at least 25,000 SP will receive a delegation of 10,000 SP.
Representatives with at least 50,000 SP will receive a delegation of 15,000 SP.
Steem Reps are also invited to make weekly reports which are rewarded with votes from @steemcurator01 or @steemcurator02. Reps should limit their reports to one report per week, which should be posted in the Steem POD community.
These reports should not just be lists of people voted for in the past week. They should include details of contests, events or other activities they have organised in the week to support Steemians across the platform, as well as any issues they have encountered.
Steem Reps will also be given preferential voting support for activities and contests they organise.
Applying to be a Steem Representative
As it has been some time since the last review of Country Reps we are planning to start afresh.
Existing Country Reps will need to reapply if they would like to become Steem Representatives.
We are also very much looking for new people to come forward to become Steem Representatives. It now does not matter how many other Reps there are in your country, or how many other Steemians there are in your country.
Steem Reps will be a very important part of the future growth of Steem so we are keen to appoint people who demonstrate long term commitment to the platform.
People applying to become Steem Representatives therefore should meet the following criteria…
- Active on the platform for at least the past 6 months
- At least 12,500 SP of their own (not delegated)
- A reputation of at least 70
- Have a CSI and voting pattern that clearly demonstrates that they are already supporting other Steemians across the platform.
Applicants should also be generally active in the wider community through curation, commenting, organising contests, or other activities.
Steem Reps must also not have recently powered down and they should actively support the #club system.
Users of bid bots or voting services will not be considered.

To apply to become a Steem Representative you should make an application post showing clearly and succinctly how you meet all the criteria above.
You should also say, in no more than 200 words, why you think you would make a good Steem Representative.
As well as the actual content, the quality and clarity of how your post is presented will also be taken into consideration.
Application posts can be in any language. They should include the tag #steemreps2023 and your country tag in the first four tags.
Our target is to eventually have 40 Steem Representatives but they may not all be recruited in this first round of applications if not enough suitable people apply.
Applications should be submitted by 11.59pm UTC, on Friday, March 3rd, 2023.
We plan to announce the successful Steem Representatives in early March.

I have been an active Steem developer since 2020 when I arrived here, I have done a large number of contests, meet ups, initiatives, including a completely new global curation project to reward anyone who need it. I think it is time to postulate! Interesting way to include more people by renaming the whole thing

Hello dear @steemitblog and @steemcurator01 I am very happy to have a nice news. Your steps to improve Steem are always nice. I am more than willing to take on any responsibility on behalf of the Steemit team. I am very interested to apply here. I can follow all the rules except one.
Next 26th February will be my one year anniversary in steemit journey. During this time I received a lot of valuable support from the steemit team. For which I express my gratitude to the steemit team. I always exist in club100.Also my reputation is 71+. During this period I have invested around three thousand sp of steem with my own money. Still I could not deposit 12500 sp. Right now my sp is 9289. If 10000 sp was mentioned here I wouldn't hesitate to invest the necessary steem power. Because I dream a lot about the steemit platform.

I am very happy that you have introduced the steemit representative. I think we should elect people for steem who will actually go into the field and work for the development of steemit. When I was country representative, I went to public area, park and remote area and I introduced myself as steem representative and today my idea is seen here. I want to make a request to steemit team that if any user is selected then he should do ground work because country represebtative used to write a post and activists on his steemit but now I want to make this program successful. The steem representative should be tasked with how they will work to promote steemit in their city and region. I am very happy that the steemit team has taken a very good decision but whichever user is selected will have to do field work and steemit promotion campaign in a week and four times in a month. I will try to write a detailed post in this regard. I am very happy that the Steemit team has made a very good decision.
Good initiative there steemitblog. I will work hard to also be a country representative.
This is my own way of participating in the growth of this community apart from being active on the platform.
Yet I have a suggestion. Can we have a role for those not having enough SP to meet this criteria!! For there are some that has never powered down and can't still meet the criteria.
Let us involve both the oldbie and the newbie.

I think this initiative is a great step forward! This will make senior and experienced members really willing to help newbies understand this platform in a better way.
This move will filter out the ones who were here just for a few quick votes from senior curators but were least active in educating the newbies. Great step!

A great initiative. A wonderful and amazing update from your side. You are very true because in 2022 most of the reps left the platform . Being an active user , it is really an great initiative because there are so many users who are best users. But they are not reps. This is the direct chance to those who deserve it. I apply if I eligible for it. But I'm totally satisfied with your great initiative. Now Steemit will bloom once again with March blooming . Thank you @steemitblog.

Wow the great opportunity is finnaly here, I must say this is the best choice removing country representatives and creating steem representatives instead.
I got so excited for the announcement but unfortunately I didn't meet the criteria because of less SP (10,500). But I hope to be part of steem representatives in the future.
