v.2 While they were serving the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for Me Barnabas and Saul (Paul) for the work to which I have called them.”
God had designed a field of work for Paul and Barnabas. So is He doing today too. Like the disciples did by praying and fasting, if we seek the face of God in the place of prayer fasting, He will also reveal the purpose where He has called us to serve.
After hearing from God, apt response is expected. The disciples/Apostles immediately commissioned the duo for the work they were called to serve.
v. 3 Then after fasting and praying, they laid their hands on them [in approval and dedication] and sent them away [on their first journey].
It is worthy of note that this purpose was well defined to the persons concerned. Paul and Barnabas were well aware of where God wanted to them to serve Him. See their testimony in verse 47.
v.47 For that is what the Lord has commanded us, saying, ‘I have placed You as a light for the Gentiles, So that You may bring [the message of eternal] salvation to the end of the earth.’”
God expect us to know where He calls us to serve and to live in the consciousness of same so that the body of Christ can be edified.
Thanks for this insight, I am blessed.
Thanks for sharing @uyobong
Mmh, @uyobong this is deep.
In this times where lots of people walk about without knowing God's purpose for their life and why they are here on earth.
A sincere search and setting apart to seek God opens us up to His plan for our lives. God bless you
