A reasonable analysis, but here's a counter opinion.
It took only 5% of the Colonial American population to mount a successful revolution against King George III of England. The bulk of the population did not participate in the revolution. The passionate minority will control the complacent majority every time.
Islam has a much bigger portion of the populations of major European countries than that.
Terrorism is being practiced to draw the complacent into the fight. When the west has finally had enough, it will strike out in an overly broad way. This will draw the 1-Billion-plus complacent Muslims (who still have the same neck-smiting Qur'an-based teaching) to join their militant counterparts.
One Billion Plus suitably motivated people is enough to take control of every nuclear power on the planet.

While your point is more than valid stan about the colonization of America, I feel that it looses its relevance due to the fact that the colonization wasn't driven by religion zealousy. Yes the pilgrims wanted a land to live in and practice their faith but they were not driven by a vision of the entire world believing and practicing the same faith that they do. Islamic conversion in Europe is already being attempted and thankfully it is being pointed out and being flagged. Mosques are being burned because of it and for other reasons beside. That was the reason the Pilgrims were successful. They didn't attempt assimilation or conversion thus allowing for a more effective colonization strategy which to the native Americans only looked as though they wanted land to live upon, not trying to change their faith, society or culture which they would have viewed as more acceptable.
