Let's Talk about God: YOUR Most Important Dilemma

in #religion6 years ago

It's a dilemma because as a sentient being, your reconciliation of the very IDEA of 'God' is just the beginning; and, hehe, good luck with that.

Then agreeing with a common idea (between just two people in conversation) for what exactly God represents, now the discussion can turn to what INFLUENCE this idea of God has in our lives...

It's rabbit hole after rabbit hole, the design of which could surely lead to madness were you to attempt to come up with a thoroughly logical argument.

As Nietzsche would argue,
"If the presuppositions of a theory have been invalidated, then the theory has been invalidated."

With no way to validate ANY of the presuppositions on the very idea of God, then perhaps God IS dead --- From the position of logic and science.

The human spirit, however, is older than science, which (arguably), is still in its infancy.

Here is a clip of Jordan Peterson I posted over a month ago:

I'm going to repost my blog entry which addresses the profoundly difficult nature of this question, and I hope that those who reply in the comments section try this:

Make a post about your answer so that more people may see it.

I received such wonderful and well thought out replies that should have had the opportunity for others to see as well.

If you feel inclined to reply to this post with more than just a line or two, I encourage you to write a post with your thoughts, and simply comment below with "Powerful Craiggles! My answer on my blog"

You'll get the Steem rewards, and rightly so; the question of God minus the pollution of ideology is such a bloody important discussion!

The more we are willing to explore this question, the better off we'll all be.

I always find myself listening to Jordan Peterson during work acting as a podcast. Sometimes i'll listen to Joe Rogan Experience when he brings him on and it never seems to disappoint. I was reading Common Sense by Thomas Paine and stumbled upon a chapter about god and what 'our' beliefs as humans should be. He goes onto explain the social creation behind these beliefs and the way that these cultures influence our everyday lives. I will try.

@scan0017 Thank you for not using bidbots on this post and also using the #nobidbot tag!

I think we need a notion of god simply to stop humans from indulging in being gods themselves. The rise of the religion of atheism is indeed very disturbing as they seek to put humans at the top of the tree of power. As you say, we well know what this leads to. I do not understand anyone who claims to know god (which is the same as claiming there is no god). Surely there can be no bigger folly than to claim divine knowledge.

Well said, agreed.

The premise that humans should stop indulging in being gods themselves, however, is one that bears discussion.

Perhaps humans could adopt the mindset of assuming the position of being lesser gods, in their ability to even recognize the possible existence of an all-powerful, omniscient & omnipotent symbol which defies description; in whatever manner an individual may attempt to characterize that idea without going mad...

Semantics confound the idea of a 'lesser god,' akin to claiming that someone is "a little bit pregnant."

Stretching our minds in heretofore fresh positions promotes neurogenic growth...

Together, let's all work a little harder:
At encouraging our minds to be greater tomorrow than what they are today.
