RE: The devil you say... a real Satanist commenting on "The satanic temple"

Very interesting... My belief is that religions were "flipped" far back in our history to make us believe we are worshiping the "good guy" and condemning the "bad one" ... when in fact it is the opposite... I mean just look at Christianity... their God kills all who dare disagree with him... on a whim...has his "children" kill each other over his and in his name... his "son" encouraged human cannibalism and blood letting/ingestion rituals to declare unwavering faith/loyalty... and will condemn you to an entirety of torture and pain if you dare to not follow his will... that ... if you ask me... is the very definition of evil...The character of Satan however... well his name Lucifer Means "bringer of the light" and what was Gods FIRST ACT AS GOD??? Pretty sure it was to "bring light" into existence.... suggesting that the creator... is the character we now call Satan or Lucifer. Correct me if I am wrong... but it is the satanist way or teaching to "do as thou wilst" right??? is this not just a simplification of the "do no harm" principal? As you may do as you please... but so can and will others and so treating others with kindness and honor is beneficial to all? Just something to consider... Maybe God is the Devil and the Devil is God... " The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was to convince humanity that he didn't exist"... was it? or was the best one convincing the world that he was god and that god was the bad guy... that seems like what happened to me.

Hi, thanks for the comment.

Just a note: what you're describing is a position known as gnosticism, not Satanism. The gnostics believe in an essentially Christian worldview but flip around the traditional views of God and the devil. In Satanism, we do not believe in any deity beyond ourselves and Satan is a symbol of our own potential.

The belief in a deity known as Satan or Lucifer as sole deity may also be called luciferianism, this is also not Satanism but rather its own unique religion.

I tend to view all theistic beliefs as fundamentally delusions, as do other Satanists. Such beliefs arised in a pre-scientific era to explain how the world works and have stuck around due to what LaVey called "man's need for fantasy".

I prefer not to delude myself and turn to fiction that is honest about being fiction to get my fix of fantasy.

Oh, one other thing: the bringer of light came from Roman gods, look it up.
