RE: Take Me to Church (every two decades or so)

in #religion7 years ago

I'm glad that you had a positive experience at a church. My home church was amazing. Being in the North, it was far, far away from the Bible belt, and the congregation there is the most widely diverse I've ever seen anywhere (ethnically speaking). Finding a healthy, quality church can help you build a great support network of friends and positive influences for your family. I know from experience. And since mine was so far north, racism was really no issue at all. Moving south after my wedding, I've heard so so much talk about racism and I couldn't understand why it was such a widely discussed topic. I didn't see the relevance... Must be because I'm a Yankee at heart. May your faith journey inspire you and help answer your questions. By the way, it is GOOD to ask questions. As a Sunday School teacher, I always encouraged my students to ask, and I would try my hardest to answer any questions they have. Questions are okay. What is not okay is how they reacted negatively to you because you had questions. But just because they couldn't help you, doesn't mean that there aren't good answers for you. :)
