God Always Agrees with You: What are the Odds?
Have You Ever Noticed?
Have you ever noticed how God always agrees with his followers, rather than the other way around? It is no secret that there are tens of thousands of different denominations of Christianity, a massive variety of believers that, despite all purporting to follow the absolute word of the exact same book, manage to disagree on essentially every single point that can possibly be disagreed on. This is old news. But it goes deeper than that. Each and every individual Christian has their own personal God.
And I don't mean they each and every one have a personal relationship with God, I mean they each and every one have their own custom tailored God that specifically agrees with and reinforces whatever that person's own personal preferences and prejudices are.
What a fantastic coincidence it is that God always, without fail, hates all the same things you hate, approves of all of the same things you approve of, and seems to reinforce whatever your worldview is.
This is What I Mean
Why do you never encounter a person who personally disagrees with or doesn't see the wisdom in God's rules, but who defers to them anyway out of respect for God's authority? For example, you never come across a Christian who says, "I don't personally have a problem with two men being married. Gay marriage seems fine to me and they do look happy together, but look, God forbids it and he knows better than us, so we have to defer to his rules anyway." Why do you never find a Christian who says "It makes sense to me that a woman should have control over her own body and reproduction, so The Pill seems like a great way to accomplish that, but God says to be fruitful and not waste your seed, so we should do as he says regardless."
Nope, that kind of Christian doesn't seem to exist. Rather, if a Christian personally supports Gay marriage, then the God they worship does as well. If they don't like Gay marriage, then their God does not. Same with Abortion or The Pill or marrying outside of your religion or Baptism or Communion or Miscegination or.....whatever. Nobody ever disagrees with God's rules, no, rather they worship a version of God that agrees with them personally on every issue.
It's almost like there is no God and people just custom build a mythic authority figure to enforce whatever they think the rules should be.......
