Daily Gospel for Saturday February 24, 2018

Gospel, Matthew 5:43-48

'You have heard how it was said, You will love your neighbour and hate your enemy.

But I say this to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you;

so that you may be children of your Father in heaven, for he causes his sun to rise on the bad as well as the good, and sends down rain to fall on the upright and the wicked alike.

For if you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Do not even the tax collectors do as much?

And if you save your greetings for your brothers, are you doing anything exceptional?

Do not even the gentiles do as much? You must therefore be perfect, just as your heavenly Father is perfect.'

Reflection on the Gospel of the Lord

In today's Gospel, Jesus Christ reminds us to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute you. If you made enemies and have hostile feelings towards your neighbor or other people, then it is time to take action to reconcile with them and love them. If you think that there are people who don't love you or persecute you then it is time to pray for them and forgive them.

If you experience that you are being harassed, annoyed or being trouble for no reason then the best action you will make is to pray for them and love them. We must follow the command of our Lord Jesus Christ to "Love your enemies" and "Pray for those who persecute me".

You can start with simple baby steps like for example is someone who disagrees with your views, the person who cuts you off in traffic, to your neighbor who is rude to you, to your teacher who shouts at you all the time, to you boss who is always unfair to you, to you backstabber college and to you family or friend who is not good to you. You offer love and prayer for them as what Jesus Christ commands us to do.
