Billy Graham, I have a few questions...

I've always been skeptical when it comes to religious leaders. And when it comes to multi-millionaires masquerading as men of God, well, skepticism doesn't even come close.

Is it just me or does anyone else share this concern about people turning a profit by peddling God?

I remember talking to a pastor once, many MANY moons ago, when I was a lowly construction worker earning a minimum wage. (I had just gotten out of the Army and there wasn't much demand in the civilian world for my mortar or bayonet skills.) The pastor told me it was God's calling for me to be a construction worker in much the same way it was God's calling for him to be chosen as the voice of the Lord.

Quite the ego, he had.
Big, beautiful church building.
Nice car.
Huge home.
etc.

What's interesting, however, is that I seem to recall Jesus working in construction for most of his life. That is, until the day he became a wondering servant, traveling the countryside, making friends and helping people in need...and never accepting a penny. And this has me wondering: If pastors today are supposed to be servants of God, why do they use their calling from God as a means to increase their standing, wealth, and influence?
