Witchcraft - Blah
In this day and age it seems at every turn our children are inundated with a 'sexy' or 'nice' hollyweird version of witchcraft. Witchcraft TV shows, movies (harry potter) and video games. There is no such thing as 'nice' witchcraft. It is evil and sinister and against God. Here is what the Bible says about witchcraft...
1 Samuel 15:22-23
22 And Samuel said, Hath the Lord as great delight
in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying
the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better
than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.
23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and
stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because
thou hast rejected the word of the Lord, he hath
also rejected thee from being king.
Galatians 5:19-21
9 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which
are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness,
lasciviousness,
20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance,
emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and
such like: of the which I tell you before, as I
have also told you in time past, that they which
do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
Nahum 3:4-6
4 Because of the multitude of the whoredoms of
the wellfavoured harlot, the mistress of
witchcrafts, that selleth nations through her
whoredoms, and families through her witchcrafts.
5 Behold, I am against thee, saith the Lord of
hosts; and I will discover thy skirts upon thy
face, and I will shew the nations thy nakedness,
and the kingdoms thy shame.
6 And I will cast abominable filth upon thee,
and make thee vile, and will set thee as a
gazingstock.
Witchcraft is nothing new. It's been going on almost since the very beginning. There is nothing 'sexy' or 'nice' about witchcraft. There is no such thing as a 'good' witch or wizard like in harry potter or lord of the rings. Witchcraft is a close cousin to idol worship. It is an abomination to the Lord and hated by God. Soothsaying (i.e. being a medium) and fortune telling are also considered witchcraft.
Micah 5:12-13
12 And I will cut off witchcrafts out of thine
hand; and thou shalt have no more soothsayers:
13 Thy graven images also will I cut off, and
thy standing images out of the midst of thee;
and thou shalt no more worship the work of thine
hands.
Chronicles 33:6
6 And he caused his children to pass through the
fire in the valley of the son of Hinnom: also he
observed times, and used enchantments, and used
witchcraft, and dealt with a familiar spirit, and
with wizards: he wrought much evil in the sight
of the Lord, to provoke him to anger.
The Grim Reaper Preacher says, "Try reading the Bible from cover to cover - you'll like it."

Makes me ponder a bit. When you say witchcraft - what do you think of at that moment? And what makes you understand that it is not good?
Mentioning TV shows and Harry Potter doesn't really settle in my head - they're simply ideas and symbols people happen to like.
I've been learning more about Christianity through Jordan Peterson lately, by the way :) I'm looking at it with curiosity.
Anything having to do with casting spells. Some TV shows even claim they are witches or wizards. All not good because the Bible tells me so. God Bless You
I see. It is just that besides getting to know teachings of Bible and Christianity, I also tend to dig deeper.
For example spells - that could be defined as anything that is impacting another person. We do that every day, we have an impact on one another - mostly with the words we say :)
It is written... "suffer not a witch to live"
Again it is written... " behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people
We are in age of great darkness... We must shine our light very bright, or it will be put out... for the sake of our children

Yes, an age of darkness and according to Revelations it will only get worse. The only thing we can do is resist it the best we can and reach out to those needing to hear the gospel.

Witchcraft is a work of the flesh and it should be cut off because its not in accordance with God's purpose in our lives.
