Dating Profiles
It used to be that going to a bar was all you needed to do to find a potential date. Either that or getting matched up by a well meaning friend or family member was the way it went. Today however the game has changed and everything is done via computer, more often than not the computer in our smart phone.
There are plenty of dating sites available and numerous apps to use should you need a faster response but how do you keep those profiles up to date and easy to find?
Perhaps the best piece of advice is not to lie. Don't post a picture of someone who isn't you on your profile. Don't pretend to be taller than you are, smaller than you are or smarter than you are. These lies, while they may seem quite harmless can come back to bite you in the rear end very fast and lies always take more effort to maintain than the truth.
List your likes and dislikes honestly, too. If you say you have a love of the ocean to sound romantic and your perspective date takes you on a boat trip and you are actually terrified of deep water he or she will figure that lie out pretty quickly and then wonder what else you lied about.
Another thing to remember is to be upfront about what you are looking for. If you want someone younger or older than you don't be afraid to put that on your profile and don't entertain people who don't match your criteria, why would you waste everyone's time?
Disabilities are a tricky thing to share. Do you tell potential boy or girl friends up front about a disability or do you save that for when you meet? Most people would like to know right away what is going on, the truth is easier than keeping up a lie, after all. But on the other hand, it's your business what you share and maybe you don't want every person who sees your profile to know right away that you use a wheelchair or a walker to get around. These things may be a good fit for when you start to chat to a potential match rather than being right there in the open.
