I realize it was an attempt at humour and in a different context I would see the funny side of the comment - but not in a story regarding rape and violence.

I didn't actually downvote you. I have never downvoted anything on here actually. I just learned how to even do it. Someone else must have. Perhaps they didn't detect the humor in your "joke" either.
Oh, and I assume they also posted 2 comments prior to this, then quickly deleted them and posted this in response? Haha, the blockchain never lies, you might wanna read a bit more into how steemit works.
