Many seem to be too caught-up in the show to notice the bad writing

Democrats can't really get elected in Kansas, much, since the NRA and pissed-off gun owners and folks who'd actually expected Clinton to reform welfare like he'd promised sent them all packing in the mid 90s after their party tried to use the OKC bombing as an excuse to further restrict the gun rights a few states' residents were just starting to regain, so they've been trying this trick the last few rounds of running as "Independents" and refusing to speak to specifics or be identified with the democrats while bringing-up talking points and issues which are only talking points and issues in democrat circles. It appeals to the people who can't recognize that farm subsidies actually hurt farm states and who tolerated democrat congressmen and gun-control and pointless spending for a lot of years just to protect those crony-fascist Ag programs and bring home the pork to Boeing and whatnot...a whole bunch of guys who pissed people off by actually doing what they ran on, cutting spending and taxes, got bounced in this recent primary by outsider-funded left-leaning Republicans. The conditions that caused the 2008 financial clusterfuck have been repeated and perpetuated, the money-printers (both real and digital) are still running in overdrive with the Fed afraid to even significantly slow it let alone shut it off, and the longer before it happens, the worse it's gonna hurt. So of course Kansas is about to rejoin all the other states that had NOT slowed their taxing and spending and bring us into position to be hurt a lot worse this time than we were last time when Kansas' economy was still quite strong compared to the rest of the states', because, while ignoring all the REAL dangers, the media have way too many people willing to amplify those real problems to stop the imagined horrors of "under-funded Kansas state government".
