Fried Okras! Yummy Side Dish
Wanted to share my recipe for fried Okras. It is very simple but tasty.
6 okras
Veg oil for frying (1 cup)
Black or white pepper to season
1/4 tsp salt
1 egg
1 cup cornmeal
Method:
Beat egg and put aside for now.
Cut up okras.
Soak okras in beaten egg for about 8 minutes.
In another bowl, mix together cornmeal, salt, and pepper.
Heat oil in a pan ( medium heat ).
Add okras to cornmeal mixture and coat evenly. Place okras in hot oil. Cook until golden brown. Drain on paper towels to absorb excess oil.
Makes an excellent side dish.
