Recipe: French Toast Pie
Actually, it is more like a version of a bread pudding rather than a pie per se. But it does taste like a French Toast. French Toast that is a very typical dish to eat around Christmas time here in my native Brazil. And the recipe is simple, indeed. Anyways, it is a great option to eat as a dessert tonight or tomorrow or to pair with some afternoon coffee or tea anyday. Just give it a try.
Ingredients:
- 2 bread rolls
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup of sugar
- 1 tablespoon of corn starch
- 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
- 400 ml of milk
- 1 table spoon of vanilla extract
- 200 gr of condensed milk
How To Prepare:
In a bowl, mix the eggs, corn starch, milk, vanilla and the condensed milk. You can mix manually or by using a blender. Let it rest. Meanwhile, turn the bread rolls into small pieces. Then, in another bowl mix the cinnamon and sugar. Put the bread in a baking recipient and add the mix of eggs, corn starch, vanilla, milk and condensed milk. Sprinkle on top what is left from the cinnamon and sugar mix.
Put it in a 200C/392F preheated oven for about 40 minutes. It will totally depends on your oven though.
Hope you enjoy. I am not a great cook but I love to eat and try different things every now and then. And for this Christmas, instead of having French Toasts, we will have French Toast Pie. Considering that here in Brazil is summer, it is actually more appropriate weather like.
merry Christmas,
Merry Xmas!
