World's best secret salad + making tips

in #recipe8 years ago (edited)

This week me and my boyfriend went on a road trip all the way the west coast of the USA. Being on a road trip you do not always have a great opportunity to eat all 3 meals a day or eat healthy (which is totally fine once in a while).  We both love fruit and vegetable a lot and passing hundred of local farm markets we were tempted enough to stop by and get something fresh. By the end of that day we had a nice collection of "freshies" which were incorporated well into a dish we, both tired, exhausted and lusting for a normal food, prepared. It was the greatest plate of salad I have ever had in my life! It was so rich and delicious that whenever I think about it, my heart starts singing...

The recipe is really simple and you need the following to prepare salad for 2 people:

1 small lettuce (iceberg is perfect)

1 apple (cut into cubes/slices)

1 nectarine (cut into cubes/slices)

1 kiwi (cut into cubes/slices)

6 baby carrots cut into smaller pieces

1 big or 2 small avocados (sliced into pieces)

1 small box of berries (we used blueberries and strawberries)

40 g shredded cheese (blue cheese crumbs on top taste amazingly good, but then you have to add some extra cheese which taste is not so powerful, Mozzarella fits perfectly )

40 g walnuts, almonds, pecans (or any nut you like, you can also add some salted or caramelized ones)

Favorite bread (we used pitas and inserted salad inside- TASTED AMAZINGLY GOOD)

SAUCE: raspberries, some garlic salt and pepper blended all together

PREPARATION: Take a plate where you serve salads and add some lettuce (we did not cut them, but ripped to bite size pieces), add some slices/cubes of apple and nectarine on top of lettuce, sprinkle pieces of carrots, avocado, kiwi, add nuts, shredded cheese and berries. Sprinkle with sauce. Serve with bread of your choice.

All the products used were organic and fresh which made our salad an A-CLASS SALAD.

Some tips while preparing an amazing salad:

1) Add some fruit (not necessary citrus)

2) Add some cheese

3) Use fresh bread

4) Use nuts
