After watching this movie, regardless of its quality, which I will talk about later, I discovered that Endgame is the finishing touch for a film phenomenon that is difficult to replicate. All this is born in the oldest traditions of humanity ... and for that reason I give it a scale of TEN!

Many centuries ago, more precisely in the IV, Aeschylus wrote a tragedy that would be the prelude to one of the greatest changes in the history of mankind. For the first time in years, the Gods, those capricious beings of human characteristics and infinite powers, were faced with the first questioning of their validity and nothing less than at the hands of a mortal: in the middle of a work that showed the first human questions about the morals and ethics of the gods and therefore their consequent conflict with the religious beliefs of the time, the key was given to the Greeks and other cultures, to open the door to a new era of beliefs very different from those that used to spread.

However, mythology never died completely, tens of centuries were not enough to reduce to ashes the mystique of Greek mythology, one of the most portentous in the world and above all, one of the most complete and attractive. Many authors and disciplines throughout the years relied on mythology to begin many hypotheses and theories within astronomy, astrology, philosophy, psychology, Jung, Freud ... titles and names could be infinite. All the common places found in the myths were and are, in the long run, a symbolic representation of human needs and conflicts that, to a large extent, ended up being the reflection of each society.

To the extent that time and interconnectivity began to flourish, a few authors found the "chance" of the replica of myths, because if there is something surprising in every culture it is how deity models and their stories are repeated suspiciously similar ... and, at that time, celu did not exist, right? Then the hypothesis runs into one of the most prominent ideologues of our time: Joseph Campbell, a man who not only contributed to the explanation of why two cultures at opposite ends of the map have the tendency to recreate such similar scenarios from their myths and legends, but was the creator of the familiar "monomito" that today nourishes while surprising the stories of so many film scripts through the figure of the hero or heroine, who must travel the path of glory, redemption or fall .

I imagine that at this point, three paragraphs after the beginning of the article, more than one person must be wondering where the Avengers review is. Calm down, we are on the right track, but this time I want to present something different, something that you will not read so easily in another place. This is the more or less explained basis of why Avengers Endgame has become one of the pillars of the mythology of modernity and a historical milestone that many people will take years to realize that it was real.

Marvel and the Monomito

After more than 10 years, with the departure of Iron Man, Marvel decided to bet on a project of paradoxically epic proportions, but in reality, managed to unveil the concept of culture and belief to adapt it to modernity. Years ago we know that the Greek gods do not exist, but we are fascinated by them. There was always a mystique in the ancient epic that still moves to our time, and with the indestructible endorsement of the Hero's Way, Marvel forged his own Golden Eggs Hen. By force of vision, long-term contracts and, of course , a lot but a lot of money. This is not magic, you just had to combine the old and beloved comics heroes with the myths of antiquity, so Marvel became Prometheus, stole the fire from the gods and gave it to men.

Men knew that they could challenge the gods, but as such, they understood the key to enjoyment behind epic stories: we probably already know how it will end in broad strokes. Anyway we will live the journey with passion, because we are traveling that path of the hero. We can talk about all the films that took place during this last decade, some of them must have seemed fantastic and others horrible; but the latter, whether we like it or not, represents The Iliad and The Odyssey of our time, and nothing has to envy Homer since its modernity. And we, from the seat with pochoclo in hand we move, without realizing it, to the theater of the masks...

Social impact

Thousands of people, avoiding entering social networks to not cross "spoilers"; others, suffering from the damned messages with fundamental plot data; people who book their tickets weeks in advance and memes that are scattered to the streets. If you are not seeing the historical milestone, I ask you to remove the blindfold.

In all my life I participated in an event in which I saw the seats take place at 00:00 on the day of the start of sale at exorbitant speeds, as well as I imagined entering a cinema of 15 rooms where 10 were reserved exclusively for the same movie. Distributed in their “tribes”, people of all ages and classes waited for the opening hours of doors chatting about their expectations, avoiding hearing the comments of those who were retiring.

This is not just a social phenomenon because of the increased interest in superhero movies, this is the work and authorship of Marvel, which managed to put the signature on a historical fact: after so many years of tracing an interwoven story of plots, characters, Villains and winks, the day came when the hero's story arc would close. And many people were waiting for this event, even the least interested knew it was a unique moment.

It had happened before with sagas of books like Harry Potter, series like Game of Thrones and video games like Mass Effect; Seeing the journey of all these heroes that comes to an end is more than just exciting. It is witnessing the challenge of writing the outcome of these varied arcs that leave the stamp of a wonderful memory engraved, and for that there is only one key: the emotion factor.

Great successes

Since the beginning of this saga of movies, personally I have protested a lot. Something that had always been particularly annoying to me about Marvel movies was their tendency to infantilize character issues. It seemed as if, for the simple fact of standing out for their gags and not falling into the darkness of adult plots like those of DC, we had to see adult characters who could not relate, had disagreements, made decisions and resolved many serious conflicts as if they were teenagers. Able that Thor would be forgiven, it would be part of his childish and jocular role, however, it was sometimes unlikely.

Endgame breaks surprisingly with this scheme and, to my amazement, it is played absolutely with all the themes described above. People who fight against their selfishness, deal with their responsibilities, carry the necessary optimisms for the morale of a group, survive duels and meet again with miracles and misfortunes. There are plenty of emotions in this movie and they are told in an authentic way. The Marvel universe grew, and with it, the commitment to rely on the emotional maturity of its audience.

From this point, spoilers

The rhythm, on the other hand, could not have been more fluid. I remember, although many people may not agree, having lived Infinity War as an endless odyssey. Endgame, meanwhile, starts in an advanced conflict framework, with the problem happening at that moment. The authors do not take long to put the approach on the table: time travel, they are heroes, everything is allowed in this universe. And then the search for the team, 5 years passed and the characters show how they matured or complicated their situation, how much they could solve or how much they decided to evade.

In the background, a planet Earth frozen in time, half of humanity has disappeared. How would people recover in just 5 years of the joint duel? This problem does not escape the authors, who stain each scene with unease, until it takes off. The ray of hope appears in the hands of the most skeptical, who for once wants to make the selfish decision but cannot. And there comes the descent of the hero, from THE heroes, to the adventure. We must recover the gems of infinity in groups, visiting past realities; and it is no accident that in each of them, the elect meet the shadows they are fighting against, some larger than others.

History, however, gives us bitter spoons with a hint of sweetness. Captain America faces himself and has to say "Hail Hydra"; Loki does his thing no matter what reality we talk about; Tony has the opportunity to hug his father; Hawkeye finds his family; Thor says goodbye to his mother, and other varieties of emotional quotas such as an excellent gold brooch.

From this point, the losses begin. Tragedy warns us that the journey will be hard, that there will be sacrifices. But we undertake the trip, with the hidden setback, although we can see it. Like the Greeks, we see the masks that lurk the protagonists and we cannot avoid bringing our hands to our mouths, wishing to warn them of the traitor infiltrated in their ranks. Logically, the plan leaves its course, where its structures were already shaking, and the crisis is reached where the tension bends, but intelligently, without abusing resources, bringing up two key events: the invasion of Thanos to Earth and the appearance of lost allies.

Captain America fights with a Mjolnir and so much emotion compressed in a single scene made him cry more than one when he heard “Avengers Assemble”. This, precisely, forms what in my way of seeing is the most important virtue of this story, the rhythm is carried with a fluency and tension combined very well structured. The rest: action as we love, our favorite characters together, the villain defeated as any expected final and goodbyes, full of tears.

The falls

There were few Marvel movies in which I found some flaws, but this one enters the list; although unfortunately it is possible to say that the few that it has were somewhat sloppy, something rare. From the beginning we got used to the idea that time travel is a reality, we don't want to accept it too much because we think it is a kind of intolerable Deus ex Machina. At the same time we understand that this is born of comics and fantasy, so we have to get to the idea of ​​this possibility and seek that at least it has a justification according to the tone of how the frames were being.

In this sense, although too quickly for my taste, the fact that time travel can be resolved is quickly resolved; 5 years hide a little this strange hiatus, but still the characters seem to get used too quickly to a quantum notion difficult to incorporate. In a spectacular way and even a little ignored by tacit agreement between us and the authors, the events of the films and their timelines pass until the end, which leaves us with our mouths open.

Several characters in the plot are responsible for warning us, even with completely open references to Back to the Future, that changing things from past timelines will not change the future of the characters under any circumstances. However, the Capi is responsible for breaking the rule "magically" and escapes to his past dreamed of Peggy (so far so good), but appears in the same place where he had left, looking old and ring of married, to say goodbye to his friends and pass his shield to Falcon. We can complain or not that Captain America would never give up his responsibilities. Personally I think that this is not essential if we consider that the characters can change just like us, but ruining an argument with a flawed premise error leaves much to be desired and is a shame for such a character.

In slightly less heavy lines at the argument level, there was a scene led by Captain Marvel where almost all the women in the series accompany her (although she clearly does not need it) to face herd against the hordes of Thanos. I called it "fanservice of feminism" and again my constructive criticism of the stories written by men: we want to feel represented and in equal roles, we do not need to make a scene to the "girl power" without any sense.

Synthesis

Avengers Endgame is a movie worth watching, regardless of our love for movies of this style. It is a historical milestone, our rethinking mythology and a fabulous closure of a plot arc that, with its failures, nobody dreamed of being able to recreate for no less than 10 years of history. Do not miss the opportunity to live something that they will tell the youngest in the future, I can assure you that you will leave a mark in your hearts.

Many doubts after seeing this great movie, which has marked a great significance in the fanatic, and it is that many were left with that doubt of who the new successor would be, of course if we see who receives the new Spiderman movie Iron Man's powerful glasses, We also notice new changes in seconds and highlight those millions of hypotheses that are in my head, which I hope to share with you, after you read my review, but here you will begin to discover my true self within Marvel. I really liked this movie, the jumps in time, the twists and hypotheses that Hulk gave to interpret the time and to give a complex in the history of this film, and with good reason, everything has logic, and why not?
