2017 - Year of learning and self reflections (Sharing my reading list)
2017 was a very eventful year for me. It was a year of meaningful reunions and new starts. I was back home after I left for the states 10 years ago for school. I got to see my family and friends after a long time. My youngest brother was only eight when I left. We were able to celebrate his 18th birthday when I was home.
I got to meet old friends who I had lost touch with, but we caught up as if we were only away for a short year. It is comforting to see how distance means so little when it comes to true friendships.
One month after I got back to the states , I decided to move job. One year in and I can say that it was one of best decisions I made all year. I can honestly say that there was never a week where I didn't learn something new.
I will keep this first post short and end with a list of 10 books I most enjoyed reading last year, in no particular order:
- Clean Code (Robert Martin)
- The Phoenix Project (Gene Kim, George Spafford, and Kevin Behr)
- 17 Indisputable Laws of Teamwork (John C. Maxwell)
- Extreme Ownership (Jocko Willink and Leif Babin)
- 97 Things Every Programmer Should Know (Kevlin Henney)
- How to Measure Anything (Douglas W. Hubbard)
- Algorithms to Live (Brian Christian and Tom Griffiths)
- When Breath Becomes Air (Paul Kalanithi)
- The Accidental Creative (Todd Henry)
- Mastery (Robert Greene)
I'm always looking for book recommendations. So if you know any good ones let me know.
