Hungry, Hungry Hump Day, #Show 2 Origin of the Pumpkin

in #ramblingradio6 years ago (edited)

Incase you missed last night show, I have taken the time to record and upload it for your pleasure which I hope you enjoy listening to it.

What we talked about.

We talked about a post I had shared about the rearing of a lamb for meat which the process was completed last week you can read more about the post here and I promise no gory pictures.

Today is the day we say goodbye to the lamb (no horrific pictures.)

We then talked about Pumpkins and its origins and also the origins of the Jack O Lantern, sadly I could not retrieve this information from steemit, but I found an interesting article on the web which gives a good amount of information.

We talked about how the pumpkin was such a versatile dish, that it could be used for both sweet and savoury dishes. I would personally like to thank Sarge also who found a great article on the web about making your own pumpkin spice, which just looks like what I am looking for.

So many wonderful dishes were talked about @ravijojla talked about how her Mom would fill a pumpkin with dried fruits and bake it, I can imagine with yummy spices such as cinnamon and nutmeg.

While @xcountytravelers shared an awesome recipe about a pumpkin chilli using some alternatives due to allergies that she had. Jack Miller shared a recipe his wife makes and had posted it to steemit last year about pumpkin fritters, which I will be trying out for sure.

Here is the article to the pumpkin Fritters, thanks to @sylviamiller.

In other news.

I shared an article I came across by @progressivechef who wrote a post that he is looking for new steemians, particularly foodies who he can support and add to his steemvoter.

If you are interested in finding out more about this click here for the full article.

@freetissues from the steemit kitchen ran a contest this past week for people to be able to share a dish, and announced the winner of the contest on the show, the article shows how to enter the contest which is being run each week for a chance to win 10 steem, I would suggest you join the Steem Kitchen to meet fellow foodies and check out what the contest is all about.

Congratulations to the winner of the last contest which was @wisejg.

Here is the article for the next contest entry.

I upvoted your contribution because to my mind your post is at least 6 SBD worth and should receive 88 votes. It's now up to the lovely Steemit community to make this come true.
